About The Decameron
The Decameron is a 2024 historical comedy-drama TV series inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio’s classic 14th-century work. Set in 1348 Florence, during the outbreak of the Black Plague, the story follows a group of noblemen and servants who retreat to a countryside villa to escape the devastation sweeping the city. As fear, survival instincts, and power struggles intensify, their isolation gives way to satire, betrayal, romance, and darkly comedic social commentary.
The ensemble cast includes Zosia Mamet, Amar Chadha-Patel, Lou Gala, Leila Farzad, and Douggie McMeekin, delivering a mix of sharp wit and emotional depth. The series stands out for blending historical reality with modern humor, exploring class conflict, human selfishness, survival, and the absurdity of privilege during crisis.
