Every year in mid-May the International Cannes Film Festival and in mid-September Cannes Games Festival bring together on the Côte d’Azur the most famous actors, directors, and film producers. The mere mortal entrance to premiere screenings and private parties is closed. But if you really want to, anything is possible.
Way one: Pay
The easiest, but also the most expensive way to get to the Cannes Film Festival is to pay for an invitation. Officially, there are no paid tickets to screenings and parties, but there are many companies on the Internet that offer to get to the festival for money. Big money.
For example, for about 4,000 euros, you’ll be taken to the opening ceremony. The price includes a car with a driver who will take you straight to the red carpet and a photographer. For an extra amount, you will get professional make-up and styling right in your hotel room. Accommodation and flight are of course at your expense.
Do you want to go to any premiere? The price of the question is 2 thousand euros. Going to the most fashionable parties is not a problem either. There would be money. From 3 to 13 thousand euros, depending on the stars of the guests. For example, last year’s Vanity Fair party at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc saw Will Smith, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kendall Jenner, Dustin Hoffman, Uma Thurman and other celebrities among the guests. For the invitation to this party, mediators ask 13 thousand euros. That’s what Vanity Fair is for. True, they say that if you appeal to intermediaries with a sincere cry of the soul, the prices can be knocked down exactly half, but we have not checked.
Way two: Show perseverance and imagination
As we said before, you can get to the premiere shows by invitation or accreditation. It’s strictly forbidden to sell invitations, but there are still people who do. Therefore, if you come a couple of hours before the show, there is a chance to buy an invitation handy right at the red carpet. The price is as agreed. Rumor has it that if you look stunning and make an impression on the seller, you can get an invitation almost for free. Of course, if before that you are not pushed away by others.
It’s still easier with parties. Name at the entrance of any secular chronicler or well-known, but not too public businessman and rely on luck. If you’re lucky and your identity isn’t suspicious, you’ll be missed. Otherwise, you’ll have to retreat and exercise your eloquence elsewhere. At the end of the day, we all started somewhere.
Way three: Get an internship
Recruitment of trainees for the festival takes place approximately until the end of February every year. The important condition is that you must have a good command of French. If you are chosen, prepare yourself for two weeks of little sleep, snacking on the run and a lot of work. Probably for free. The maximum fee is about 350 euros, and it is mainly the French who can count on it.
The cost of accommodation, food, and clothing (and it must be presentable) is entirely on you. But there is a chance to meet the right people, especially if you are new to the industry and dream of conquering the film Olympus. Perhaps you will be noticed and offered a permanent job. A bonus – access to the stars (although it’s forbidden to take selfies with celebrities), free shows, and the opportunity, though from the back entrance, but to blend into a movie party.
